What thickness should I use?

Use 1/2-inch drywall for standard interior walls and 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings to prevent sagging.

Should I hang ceilings or walls first?

Always hang the ceiling panels first, then the walls. Wall panels push up against the ceiling to help hold and hide gaps.

How long does joint compound take to dry?

Drywall mud typically takes about 24 hours to dry completely, though cold or humid weather can make it take longer.

Should I use nails or screws?

Use screws instead of nails because screws hold better and prevent popped fasteners over time. Use coarse-thread screws for wood framing and fine-thread screws for metal studs.
