Single-Ply EPDM Rubber Roofing

Flat Roofing (EPDM)

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) provides long-term waterproofing for flat sections, additions, porches, and commercial facilities.

Flat and low-slope roof sections are uniquely vulnerable to standing water, snow buildup, and severe UV rays.

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) synthetic rubber membrane is the industry gold standard for flat roofs, delivering unmatched flexibility, seam integrity, and leak prevention.

Why EPDM Works for Connecticut Properties:

  • Extreme Temperature Resilience: Expands and contracts seamlessly during wild New England freeze-thaw shifts without cracking.

  • Watertight Custom Seaming: Mechanically fastened, fully adhered, or ballasted applications designed to eliminate ponding water leaks.

  • UV & Thermal Resistance: Retains elasticity even after decades of intense seasonal sun exposure along the coast.

  • Ideal Applications: Commercial buildings, industrial facilities, low-slope home additions, flat roof dormers, and coastal garage roofs.

Roofing Frequently Asked Questions

What is an asphalt shingle roof? An asphalt shingle roof is the most common type of roof you see on homes today. It’s a roof system made primarily out of asphalt shingles and other asphalt roofing components. There are three types of asphalt shingles to choose from: 3-tab, dimensional, and luxury. 3-tab asphalt shingles lay flat and get their name from the 3 tabs on each shingle strip. Dimensional shingles give you a good looking random pattern or simulate the look of a wood shake roof. Luxury or premium shingles are actually larger than the other asphalt shingles and are made to look like slate.

What is the 3 4 5 method for roofing? If the short side of the triangle is 3 feet, and the leg that extends from it 90 degrees is 4 feet, the hypotenuse, or longest leg, will be 5 feet. This technique simply requires that the carpenter create a triangle in the corner of the lines that are to be square (90 degrees) to each other.

Can I put new shingles over old ones? If conditions are right, new shingles laid over old ones can be just as attractive and durable as shingles laid on bare sheathing. Installation is easier than for a tear-off job, since you can use the existing shingles as guides for laying the new ones

How to tell if your roof was installed correctly? You can tell if your roof was installed correctly by looking for straight, even shingle lines and checking for no visible leaks or moisture in the attic or ceilings. Other signs of a proper installation include proper flashing around penetrations, correct nail placement, and the absence of multiple layers of shingles

How long does a roof replacement take? Most residential roof replacements take a few days to a week, depending on weather, roof complexity, and crew size

How long do asphalt roofs last for? General life expectations of roofing materials: Asphalt Shingles (3 tab Shingles): 15 to 20 years. Asphalt Architectural Shingles: 20 to 30 years. Built-Up Roof: (tar and gravel) 10 to 20 years.

What are the most popular roofing materials? Asphalt shingles are the most affordable and common, while metal roofing is popular for longevity (50+ years). Tile and wood are options for specific aesthetics.

Is it better to tear-off or do a "roof-over"? While a "roof-over" (installing new shingles over old) is cheaper, a tear-off (removing the old roof) is generally recommended to ensure the deck is sound and the new roof lasts longer.
